Liberals and conservatives are perceived to disagree on most aspects of life, even seemingly trivial factors like pet selection. In this registered report we employed a significant current dataset to examine no matter if political identity predicts liking of cats and dogs, and a preference for a single over the other. Self-reported political identity was used to predict explicit evaluations of both pets, in addition to efficiency on an Implicit Association Test measuring pet preference. Higher conservativism predicted a lot more unfavorable evaluations of cats and an all round preference for dogs over cats, even following controlling for relevant demographics....
