For most locations on Earth, the warmest temperatures of the year are a month or extra immediately after the summer solstice due to the lagged warming of oceans and exposed land. Even so, there is only extremely reflective and insulating snow at Concordia, so the warmest part of the year happens incredibly shortly following the solstice in December when solar radiation is highest.
